San Jose and surrounding cities is in Climate Zone 9. Though we can get and plant almost anything a zone 2 plant will not survive in zone 9. A zone 8 or zone 10 will more than likely survive in zone 9. There are some agriculture restrictions. Most local suppliers sell what thrives in our area.

Length x Width = Square feet : '10 x '10 = '100 sq.ft.

There's a general guideline that 1 cubic yard covers '100 sq.ft. at "3 inch depth for rocks, mulch, compost etc.

Some suppliers sell by the Ton instead of cubic yard, so you'll have to convert cubi yards to Tons.
